She began studying under Bill Charlap, Geoffrey Keezer, and Katherine Russell at age 18 upon entering William Paterson. By age 19, she joined the jazz scene with the Garden State Jazz Orchestra, singing the music of The Great American Songbook. At 22, Emily released her first single, “Trigger Warning.” At 23 she debuted in New York City at Chelsea Table + Stage in NYC with her Quintet. Now, at 24, she is releasing her first album, The Rib.

Although heavily influenced by jazz, Emily pursued classical voice with Dr. Christopher Herbert and Dr. Sarah Griffiths and continues to study with Professor Jessica Best. Other than vocal performance, Emily has an appetite for learning mixed martial arts, tap dancing, watching K-dramas, teaching, and songwriting. Emily has been pursuing a blend of jazz and faith-based music and looks forward to the release of The Rib on August 21st!

Emily’s Writing Philosophy

After conducting collegiate research on the music of the “Great American Songbook,” Emily fell in love with the art of writing lyrics. As an avid reader of poetry, American classic literature, and sci-fi novels, she feels strongly about creating lyrics that become a multi-sense experience, transporting listeners to the world behind each song. Through lyrical painting, thematic analogies, and universal experiences, Emily aims to affect listeners’ hearts, revealing there is beauty behind every experience.
